The number of international travelers (non-residents) in the second quarter of 2022 increased by almost 200%

According to preliminary data from the National Statistics Service, in the second quarter of 2022, 1,049.4 thousand foreign travelers (non-residents) entered the territory of Georgia, which is 198.7% more than in the same period of the previous year.

According to Gruzstat, most of the visits - 47.0% - are made by travelers aged 31 to 50 years.

“In the second quarter of 2022, the number of foreign visitors reached 765.3 thousand people, which is 189.4% more than in the same period last year. During the reporting period, foreign guests made 749.3 thousand tourist-type visits, which is 145.0% more than in the same period of the previous year.

81.8% of foreign visitors were only tourists. The share of sightseers alone was 14.8%, and 3.5% of visitors were both tourists and sightseers.

In the second quarter of 2022, the largest number of visitors - 147.7 thousand people, was recorded from the Russian Federation, which is 19.3% of the total number of visitors. Turkey is in second place - 14.9%, Armenia is in third - 12.1%.

Most of the visits were made to Tbilisi and Adjara, 512.7 thousand and 375.3 thousand visits, respectively,” the Georgian statistics report says.
