Customs on the Georgian-Russian border stopped working due to bad weather

TBILISI, June 27 - News-Georgia. On the Georgian-Russian border, all customs control procedures have been suspended due to the difficult meteorological situation in the Darial Gorge. This is reported by the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.

As a result of heavy rainfall, the flooded rivers Terek and Devdoraki damaged the section of the Dariali-Lars highway on the neutral territory between the border of Georgia and the Russian Federation.

Employees of the Kazbegi CCI and travelers who had already crossed the Georgian border were evacuated to a safe zone.

“Import and export of goods across the customs border of Georgia at the Kazbegi customs checkpoint, as well as customs control procedures for individuals crossing the state border through the specified customs post, will not be carried out,” the agency said.

After the weather conditions improve and the damaged road is restored, the Kazbegi customs post will continue to operate as usual.

The Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance promises to inform the public and the media about the situation on the ground and the timing of the resumption of customs operations.
