Remittances from Russia face challenges

In April 2022, the volume of money transfers to Georgia from Russia increased by 300% compared to the same period in 2021 and amounted to a record $308 million. At the same time, the share of Russia in the total volume of transfers also increased, which amounted to 43%.

However, in May, transfers from Russia became much more complicated - the Kontakt and Unistream money transfer systems, which mainly operate in this direction, have faced difficulties in cashing transfers in recent weeks - due to increased demand, they have set limits that are quickly exhausted moreover, there are more and more interferences in the transfer system.
